How to correctly select the coupling for torque sensors?
When it comes to torque sensors, there are actually many people who are unfamiliar with them nowadays, because their application fields are relatively professional. If it weren't for the relevant staff, they would generally not have had any contact with them. As a device for detecting the perception of torsional torque on various rotating or non rotating mechanical components, it often plays a relatively important role. Therefore, if there are personnel involved, it is still necessary to know some relevant information to some extent.
For example, how to correctly select the coupling of a torque sensor is worth exploring together:
A torque sensor is a high-precision sensor that can measure very little uncertainty. However, in order to obtain high-precision measurement results, it is very important to reduce the parasitic load that affects the sensor. It is often caused by incorrect installation or combination of the transmission system. The radial offset of the shaft end installed on the measuring flange will generate radial force and bending moment, similarly, the radial angular offset will generate axial force and bending moment on the sensor.
In practical applications, all offsets and parasitic loads will occur simultaneously. Accurate alignment of the transmission system can only partially solve the problem, as inherent offset tolerances cannot be completely eliminated. Therefore, it is necessary to install elastic compensation components with high torsional hardness, especially at high rotational speeds, which can almost completely compensate for residual deviations. The use of compensation components can improve the accuracy of sensors and protect the bearings of the transmission system, resulting in higher wear resistance.
As a compensation component, the coupling contains two elements, which has the function of universal joint. It can compensate for angle, radial, and parallel errors. The compact form of the compensation part is full coupling, and two elements (semi coupling) with universal joint function are installed next to each other. Due to the very small gap between each other, the compensation deviation is also very small, and larger compensation requires larger gaps. Considering the need to install torque sensor compensation components on the transmission system, various variants of couplings and installation components have emerged.
